Chief Joseph Mollo III

As Fire Chief, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to the Smithfield Fire Department, a team of 54 men and women dedicated to protecting and educating the residents and businesses of Smithfield.

Since 1966, the Smithfield Fire Department has been a full-time career department offering a full range of services including: advanced life support emergency medical service, fire suppression, inspections, hazardous materials response, underwater rescue, and dive teams.

Additionally, we visit schools and local businesses to provide instruction, education and training in the importance of exit drills and fire prevention. Our community covers 28 square miles and includes protection of the North Central Airport, Interstate 295, Bryant University and the Fidelity Investments campus. In turn, the Smithfield Fire Department is responsible not only for Smithfield residents, but all those who visit or work in our community. We are the first to respond during fires, times of crisis, natural and man-made disasters, and trauma.

Our firefighters and emergency medical technicians are trained in the latest and most effective safety and rescue techinques and are always striving to keep our community safe.

We hope our website will help you to become familiar with the Smithfield Fire Department and the services and training we offer. The members of the Smithfield Fire Department are proud to be of sevice to you and are available at any time - not just in time of emergency or crisis. We want you to consider us a resource when educating your family about fire safety.

Please feel free to contact us through our website or by phone at 1-401-949-1330 if you have any questions. We look forward to serving you and hope you will turn to us as a resource to protect your families, neighhorhoods, and businesses through fire education and prevention.

Respectfully,
Chief Joseph Mollo III
